Catalog Tools
The Catalog Tools team at Blizzard creates and manages tools that enable game teams and Battle.net e-commerce groups to oversee thousands of products. Catalog tools are critical to the day-to-day business processes and marketing activities.
My role as the Senior Designer for the catalog tools team includes the product management tool, storefront management tool, and reference data management. My daily duties are UX/UI design, design system, UI information architecture, prototyping, and design review. One of the directives in 2023 was to complete the transition from legacy tooling to the next-generation system, which will help improve performance and support new product features.

The Reference Data Management system is used across Blizzard’s teams and is core to many Battle.net platforms. The need for reference data has outgrown the legacy interface with limited access to a selected few users.

The new Reference Data Management system is designed to be much more accessible to achieve greater data transparency for all user groups. The new client interface is built on a modified React MUI component system shared across the platform system group.

Due to the need to display large amounts of data and the expanded features needs. RDM became an obvious candidate as a reusable system design pattern for future features. Product Reports and Bulk Updates are two features that use the new design pattern. The system design patterns help the team to build faster with greater consistency.

To help the team align user experience features and needs, user experience flow mapping and data relationship mapping are used as communication tools between design, business, and development.
